5 Pro Tips To Spice Up Your Social Media!

Whether you love it or hate it, social media isn’t going anywhere any time soon. If you have a business, church, ministry, etc. social media can play a major role in getting your message / product out there. If you are not consistently taking advantage of the various social media platforms then you are potentially missing out on new business, new supporters, and fostering existing relationships that will ultimately benefit your organization. Here are 5 pro tips that will help you take your social media presence to the next level!

1.) Optimize your landing pages

How long has it been since you’ve updated the About page on your YouTube channel or Business Facebook page? Is all of your information still current? Does your Instagram home page stand out and give the viewer a reason to follow you? You can never make a second first impression, so it’s incredibly important to make sure your landing pages are up to date, interesting, and visually appealing for people to look at! There are so many options out there for people to look at, you need to stand out, and optimizing your landing pages is the first step in doing that.

2.) Re-evaluate your Logo and branding

How current is your logo? Is it time to rebrand or spice it up a little? Canva is an amazing free tool out there that will greatly help you with this. You can create a brand kit with colors and fonts, and use this software to create all sorts of content for your social media platforms. From Instagram and Facebook posts to YouTube channel art, thumbnails, and logos.

As an added bonus, Canva offers their premium services for free to approved non-profits. You can visit their site here: https://www.canva.com/join/ymf-mry-qyw

3.) YouTube Optimization: Tube Buddy

Now is the perfect time to grow your YouTube channel and a good way to do that is by using a software called Tube Buddy! Tube Buddy is an amazing tool for keyword research and channel optimization. They have a free version, but for a couple bucks a month you can take advantage of their non-profit or small channel discounts. The tools on their beginner package are incredibly useful and you’ll be on your way to growing your YouTube channel with them in no time! 4.) Upgrade your Sound, Lighting, and Stabilization

Content is king on social media. You don’t have to break the bank or purchase top of the line gear to get started, but it is wise to put out quality content. Obviously, picture quality is important, but most modern smartphones take High Definition images and videos. The three other things to consider in this area are sound quality, lighting, and stabilization. Here are some gear suggestions that will help you up your game. I’ve included some budget options as well.

Sound: If you are doing any type of video, talking head, streaming, interview, podcast, etc. having a microphone is absolutely essential. I personally recommend Movo’s Wireless Lav WMX series. You can get them with single or double mics, and they produce great hands-free sound quality that is compatible with either your camera or smart phone.

Here is a link for the single mic (comes with 1 mic and is great for solo videos/streams):

Lighting:

You would be surprised on how big of a difference good lighting can have on your video! Again you don’t have to break the bank, and there are budget options out there. It’s important to be lit up while you’re talking to your audience, and here are two different types of lights that will instantly take your lighting game to the next level.

Stabilization:

One of the last things you would want while watching a video would be for the screen to be out of focus and bouncing around. This can easily and affordably be fixed by using a tripod. I recommend having two. A small one for your desk or table, and a larger one that can be used either on the go or in an area where you can not set up the smaller one. Again, these accessories do not have to break the bank. Here are two models that I personally use and recommend:

5.) Batch Content & Post Consistently

Your social media page/channel is competing with 100’s of millions of other pages out there. If you aren’t posting consistently, you will not get in front of your target audience. Not being in front of your target audience is a very good way to get lost in the shuffle and not get your message out there. Most of us lead very busy lives, and don’t have time to keep up with social media trends or pump out new, relevant, and engaging content every week. This is where batching comes into pay! Dedicate time each week to curate and create content! Try to make 5-10 pcs at a time, if it’s a picture, or a quote, or thumbnail, an end screen, a tweet, whatever. Figure out a way to make multiple pieces of content in a single sitting, and then schedule out your posts/videos. If you’re shooting videos, bring a change of wardrobe and shoot 2 at a time. Shoot your thumbnail at the same time. Figure out ways to create more content in less time so you can consistently get your message out there!
